CRLDS participated in the third summit of the Network of Balkan Cities B40

Our Center, CRLDS, proudly participated in the third summit of the Network of Balkan Cities B40 held in Tirana from January 29 to 31.

This gathering convened 54 mayors from the Balkan region and various stakeholders, highlighting the paramount importance of collaboration and solidarity among local governments.

Under the overarching theme, "Building Urban Resilience and Responding to Crises," the summit underscored the need to fortify cities and establish effective crisis response mechanisms.

Key focal points included local climate initiatives, economic and cultural collaboration, democratic governance, smart cities, and digital transformation.

We view this summit as a crucial platform for mayors and experts of the field to engage in local diplomacy, share positive practices, and exchange ideas. It provides an opportunity to discuss exemplary cases, fostering resilience in our cities—the forefront of local democracy.

Our representatives from CRLDS actively contribute to working groups addressing topics such as local environmental actions, smart cities, digitization, and fostering local democratic cooperation and good neighborly relations.

Through meaningful collaboration and the exchange of insights, we aim to strengthen our cities, making them resilient and vibrant centers of democracy.
